Work near in Ogle, Whiteside counties

Published: Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014 1:15 a.m. CST

The Illinois Department of Transportation has several projects on tap in Ogle and Whiteside counties.

Starting Monday, crews will paint the underside of the state Route 2 bridge across Mud Creek, north of Oregon. Work should last about 2 weeks.

The underside of the state Route 2 bridge across the Rock River at Grand Detour also will be painted, starting Sept. 2. Two lanes of traffic will be open, but will be narrower and shifted to the side.

In Whiteside County, a section of Spring Hill Road between Banks and Henry roads, 2.5 miles southeast of Erie, and Chase and Hurd roads, 4 miles southwest of Erie, will be recycled and seal-coated. Work, which will start at 6 a.m. Monday, is to end Sept. 15. Flaggers will direct traffic.

For more information about the Ogle County work, follow IDOT at twitter.com/IDOTDistrict 2 or call 815-284-2271. For more information on the Whiteside work, call 815-772-7651.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
