DIXON – Concrete and water main work will be the main focus of the downtown streetscape project next week.

The project, expected to last into November, enters its 13th week Monday.

According to information from the engineering companies:

The pavement on First Street, between Ottawa and Crawford avenues, is expected to be finished and then work will continue on the brick pavers.

On First Street, between Galena and Ottawa avenues, curbs and gutters on both sides of the street and sidewalk are expected to be done. The crews also will work on the curb in front of the drive-thru at Fifth Third Bank, at First Street and Galena Avenue.

Concrete for curb and gutters on Ottawa Avenue, between First and Second streets, will be poured and work on walls around KSB Hospital parking lot might begin. If the parking lot work doesn’t start, crews will install storm sewers on east side of Ottawa Avenue, between First and River streets, with the west side remaining open.

Storm sewer work, electrical installations and sidewalk pours are expected for the south side of First Street, between Peoria and Hennepin avenues.

On First Street, between Peoria and Highland avenues, water main work will continue, keeping the north side of the street closed.

On Peoria Avenue, between First and Second streets, work will continue on the west-side sidewalk and entrances.

Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
