Published: Saturday, Aug. 16, 2014 1:15 a.m. CDT

The Friends of the Hennepin Canal will have its monthly Hike the Canal outing Sunday from Bridge 41 to Lock 29. The hike, called the Woodchuck, is 3.7 miles.

The group will meet at 1:30 p.m. at Lock 29, where the hikers will be shuttled to Bridge 41. To get to Lock 29, take state Route 6 to state Route 84, then take Route 84 north into Colona. In Colona, turn west onto Third Avenue to Fifth Street, then take Fifth Street South to Fifth Avenue.

Follow the road on the north side of the canal to the junction of the canal and the Rock River at Lock 29.

The hikes are free and open to the public. On hot days, it is suggested that hikers bring bottled water.
