Critical of city street repairs and closures

I would like to comment on all the road work that is being done in Dixon. I, and I am sure along with the residents of Dixon, are glad that road work is being done all over town.

But, I want to know why all of these streets are being done at one time? I think the proper way to do this is finish one before you start another.

I am sure the downtown businesses are suffering because no one wants to go and have to walk through all of it to get to these businesses; it is unsafe.

The other thing I wish to comment on is if the stuff going on this past week is supposed to be in Heritage Square, why is only half the block used? There is no reason to shut down the bridge on Peoria Avenue, causing the residents more pain, having to weave their way all around town to get from one side to the other.

Quit shutting down the roads for your enjoyment and use what the whole block of Heritage Square is intended for.

I also hear that John Deere equipment is on display on First Street between Galena and Hennepin, once again, shutting down another road. What gives anyone the right to shut down a city street? Someone is not thinking.

Last, the new, unsafe sidewalks. Do we not realize that wavy sidewalks are not safe? I am sure that the elderly will not like this. They need to be straight and not cause tripping hazards, and I am sure during the winter will be worse.

When is someone going to put their thinking cap on? I bring these things up because no matter where you go in town, someone is talking about it.
