SAVANNA – Registration is due by 4 p.m. Sept. 4 for Kids Fishing Day, set for 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 6 at the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge.

The free clinic, for children 5 to 12, is at the Frog Pond parking lot, 1.5 miles south of Savanna on state Route 84. Banners will be visible along the road to guide participants. Parents or guardians must accompany 5-year-olds.

Anglers can bring their own poles or refuge staff will provide them, bait, and fishing lessons. A hot dog cookout will take place after the clinic.
