BALTIMORE – Katy Selmi-Downs of Selmi’s Weddings and Events in Rock Falls has been recognized by the American Institute of Floral Designers as a recipient of its Certified Floral Designer designation.

Selmi-Downs completed the Professional Floral Design Evaluation July 2, before the AIFD’s National Symposium “Transition Transformation” in Chicago.

The symposium is the floral industry’s leading floral design education event. Recognition is granted after a floral designer has demonstrated understanding of the concepts of design through education and by subjecting floral design work to a vigorous peer evaluation conducted by an international panel of design experts.

Selmi-Downs also has been asked to join AIFD as an accredited member. Induction will be part of the 2015 National Symposium June 30-July 4 in Denver.
