AMBOY – Mary L. Welty, 91, of Amboy, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014, at Green Acres Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Amboy.

She was born Feb. 24, 1923, in Lick Creek, the daughter of Delmar and Merle (Neeley) Sitter.

She also had been the activities director for Dixon State School before retirement. She had been music director at Clipper Kiddies in Amboy, and the choir director at First Baptist Church in Dixon.

Mary was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Amboy. Her life was devoted to her husband, her children, her grandchildren, and her music. She married Robert D. Welty on Jan. 2, 1942, in Dixon. Her preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 2008.

Survivors include her children, Sandra Anderson of Henry, Sherry (Gordon) Koch and Nancy Willahan, both of Amboy, and Robert D. Welty II of Polo; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She also preceded in death by a great-great-grandson, Eli Christoffersen; her brother, Eugene Sitter; her son-in-law, John C. Anderson; and her daughter-in-law, Mary A. Welty.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday and the funeral at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Amboy, with the Rev. Carol Soderholm, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon. Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy is handling arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
