Two hurt Thursday in motorcycle crash

OGLE COUNTY – Two Leaf River residents received non-life-threatening injuries Thursday in a motorcycle versus deer crash on state Route 72 West.

Ogle County Sheriff's deputies responded to the scene. An investigation revealed that a motorcycle driven by Daryl L. Hoting, 51, was westbound when the vehicle was struck by the deer. Hoting lost control, and his motorcycle slid down the roadway.

Hoting and his passenger, Carrie Groom, 43, were taken to Rockford hospitals. Their conditions were unavailable Friday. Ogle County deputies were assisted at the scene by Byron, Leaf River, and Mount Morris firefighters and Lifeline Helicopter.
