DIXON – Mary Ann Koenig, 69, of Dixon, died Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at her home, after a long battle with kidney and lung failure.

She was born Nov. 24, 1944, in Amboy, the daughter of James and Genevieve (Cotter) Thompson. Mary Ann married Richard Koenig on May 31, 1974, in Dixon. She worked for 17 years in the Dixon Public School District, before her retirement in 2006; was a stay-at-home mom for 12 years; and worked at Borg Warner, before having children. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon, Loaves and Fishes, and the Catholic Women’s Club. She also was a Pink Lady at KSB Hospital.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Brett (Stephanie) Koenig of Deer Park, and Michael Koenig of East Dundee; and two grandsons, Tommy and Nicholas.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, William J. “Bill” Thompson.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, and fondly remembered as one of the sweetest, most selfless, and most caring people you could ever meet.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m., with the rosary recited at 7 p.m., Sunday at St. Patrick Catholic Church Holloway Center in Dixon. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with the Rev. Michael Morrissey officiating.  Cremation rites will be accorded.
