Competitors double their fun

After facing each other in head-to-head matchups all week in various brackets, Daniel Ferguson and Jonathon Rivera joined forces in the 15-and-under boys doubles bracket during the final day of competition at the 24th annual Emma Hubbs Tennis Classic.

Rivera and Ferguson won the bracket by means of a head-to-head tie-breaker against the duo of KC Knack and Patrick Johnson. Each pair won 16 games at the Classic at Page Park in Dixon.

Lucas Healy and Dillon Nitz won nine games, while the doubles pair of Ben Ford and Danny Ford won five games in the four-team field.

In the 15U girls doubles bracket, Paige Grambling and Ally Klein won the title by a seven-game margin with a total of 24 games. Audrey Melton and Erin Vits won 17 games, edging Avery Meyer and Alane Bratt (also 17) in a tie-breaker.

Katelyn Grell and Anna Ivarson won 16, while Samantha Odenthal and Larissa Gallardo earned six wins.

Elsewhere, Anne Vits and Erin Vits teamed to win the 18U girls doubles bracket by winning 20 games. Katie Hammitt and Emily Long won 14 games, while Sydney Ybarra and Anna Ivarson (13) and the team of Jacqueline Fazekas and Lauren Turffs (1) rounded out the group.

In the boys 18U doubles bracket, Connor Knack and KC Knack captured the title by winning 26 games in the last bracket of the Classic. The duo of Zach Healy and Sam Bratt won 25 games and placed second via a head-to-head tie-breaker against Brice Piotrowski and Tyler Williams, who also won 25 games.

Keenan Longan and Bryce Stanley won 22 games, Michael Gale and Devin Attig (17) and Devin Anderson and Christian Hicks (5) rounded out the group.

In early morning action, Jameson Ryan won the 9-and-10-year-old 4-square bracket. Carlin Brady took second and Paige Riley placed third.
