Jean L. Miller

ASHTON – Jean L. Miller, 79, of Ashton, died Sunday, July 27, 2014, in Serenity Hospice & Home in Oregon.

Jean was born Nov. 12, 1934, in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Loy and Margaret (Wilcox) Fisk. She married Daniel Miller on Sept. 16, 1954, in Sparta, Wisconsin. Jean and Dan farmed in the Ashton area for more than 40 years, and retired in 1997. Jean was a member of Ashton United Methodist Church, and was very active in church functions, including teaching Sunday school. She loved working on genealogy for both the Fisk and Miller families. 

Jean is survived by her husband, Daniel Miller of Ashton; sons, Neil (Susie) Miller and Gary (Kathy) Miller; daughter, Nancy (Charles) Demrow; grandchildren, Jason (April), Daniel, Barry and Justin Miller, and Michael and Michelle Demrow; and brother, Warren (Janice) Fisk.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Memorial service will be at 7 p.m. today at Ashton United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Sang Hun Han officiating. Private burial will be at Steward Cemetery.

Memorials may be directed to Ashton and Franklin Grove fire departments, Ashton United Methodist Church, or Serenity Hospice & Home.

Fitch Funeral Home in Mount Morris is handling arrangements.
