Tax plan by a candidate, not senator

Published: Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014 1:15 a.m. CDT

I would like to respond to the letter written by Attorney Michelle B. Buckwalter-Schurman, to your paper, and reported on July 26.

I believe she must have gotten the authors of the tax plans by candidates mixed up. Instead of using state Sen. Mike Frerichs’ name, she should have used Bruce Rauner’s name. As a member of the State Republican Committee, she should well know the proposed tax plans put forth by candidate Rauner.

He would not only tax her beauty salon, and yoga classes, but also the legal services she provides, and advertising. Also, the tax proposals she must support in the Rauner tax plan would cut help to education programs.

Her husband is the superintendent of the Chadwick-Milledgeville School District. I wonder what his views are?

Maybe, if Buckwalter-Schurman can’t make enough money at her law practice to pay a tax on her yoga classes, she should give up one or the other.
