Linda Mary Burke

POLO – Linda Mary Burke, 72, of Polo, died Thursday, July 24, 2014, at Polo Rehab and Health Care Center.

She had worked as a cook for the Polo Rehab and Health Care Center and last worked at Casey’s in Polo, where she made the doughnuts every morning.

She was born on April 13, 1942, in Elkhorn Grove Township to Ervin George and Amy Louise (Shipman) Shuman. She married Robert Burke on June 21, 1963.

Survivors include her daughter, Teresa L. (Paul) Jenkins of Polo; two sons, Steve (Marti) Burke of Butte, Montana and Kevin (Karyn) Mon of Mount Carroll; five stepsons, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Jean Polzin of Polo, Bev (Tom) Harmon of Chadwick and Connie (Leon) Medenblik of Chadwick.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters, Bonnie Shuman and Donna Hansen.

A memorial service will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Polo Senior Center. Cremation rites have been accorded.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association.
