Skeptical of VA’s burned records claim

Published: Saturday, July 26, 2014 1:15 a.m. CST

To all the veterans out there:

I was just wondering how many were told that their records burned up in St. Louis in 1976?

I froze my feet solid in Korea, they said it was 42 degrees below, and I had compensation coming. I went to Iowa City awhile back and had a complete physical. They said I definitely froze my feet, but I could have frozen them out hunting. “Ya, right.”

I see where the VA bigwigs are getting bonuses for their pain and suffering. I wonder how many of them were in combat? I still wear wool socks all year around – June, July, etc.

Note to readers: Ed Cushing was in the 7th Infantry Division.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
