Reagan Trail Days offers week full of events

DIXON – The Reagan Trail Days will run from Aug. 3-10 and will be highlighted by a concert featuring nationally touring artist Lyle Lovett.

Tickets are on sale for the Aug. 4 concert of Lyle Lovett and His Large Band at the Heritage Crossing Park along the riverfront.

General admission tickets cost $30. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and local bands Robbie Leblanc and the Real Live Show, and Chameleon will provide music before Lovett hits the stage at 8 p.m.

Concert tickets also will allow access to the pre-party from 4 to 11 p.m. Aug. 3 at Heritage Crossing. The pre-party will feature Dirt Simple, Olivia Dvorak and Danika Holmes.

Admission to the pre-party will cost $5 at the door for those without Lyle Lovett tickets.

The Dixon City Market will run from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 6 along the riverfront. The market will feature live music, craft beer and wine tastings, kids activities, face paintings and more.

On Aug. 7, there will be a free showing of “The Lego Movie” around 8 p.m. along the riverfront. Attendees are encouraged to bring their favorite Lego creation with them. There will be free Culver’s frozen custard and Jelly Belly jelly beans while supplies last.

There also will be a community picnic from 5 to 8 p.m. Aug. 7 at Lowell Park, featuring pontoon boat rides. Dinner, provided by Mama Cimino’s, will be $3 for adults, and kids 18 and under free, while supplies last.

The 144th National Guard Band will play a free concert from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Aug. 8, followed by a special performance from 8 to 9:30 p.m. by the Dixon Municipal Band, along the riverfront.

The Alzheimer’s Association Annual Great Duck Race will kick off at 10 a.m. on the riverfront. Ducks are two for $5, 12 for $25 and 50 for $100. The plastic toy ducks are available in advance at Alzheimer’s Association, 93 S. Hennepin Ave. The person with the winning duck will receive $1,000.

Second Saturdays Art Happenings will offer a variety of music and art happenings through the night. There will be artist-created masks at select businesses for participants to vote on. Go to www.facebook.com/Second.Saturdays.Art.Happenings for a schedule.
