Published: Thursday, July 24, 2014 1:15 a.m. CST

DIXON – The Lee County Sheriff’s Department and other authorities searched for 3 hours Tuesday night before finding a 14-year-old boy who ran away from Nachusa Lutheran Home.

The call came in at 6:30 p.m., and a search involving police dogs, ATVs and an Illinois State Police airplane ensued.

At 9:40 p.m., a resident in the 1500 block of Red Brick Road in Dixon reported seeing the boy head into a cornfield. When he emerged, he was taken to the Lee County Law Enforcement Center for an evaluation.

Nachusa Lutheran Home, a residential treatment facility for children, is about 3 miles from where the boy was found.
