Proud of half a century of festival buttons

Published: Saturday, July 19, 2014 1:15 a.m. CDT

Beta Sigma Phi Sorority would like to thank all of our patrons for their continued support over the past 50 years.

When the Petunia Festival was first introduced, Dagmar Ballard from Beta Sigma Phi Social Service Sorority decided a commemorative button would be a great idea. Since then, it evolved into a collector’s item. Some buttons are coveted.

Every penny of profit has been given back to the community through many donations over the years. Two completed framed sets of buttons have been donated to the city: one to KSB Hospital to honor Dagmar Ballard, and one to Loveland Community Building.

Beta Sigma Phi will no longer sell or design new buttons, but people will be able to purchase buttons 1 to 50 from any sorority member. Thank you, again, for a long, successful run.

Note to readers: Bobbi Berwanger, Sherrill Berard, Helen Bothe, Linda Ege, Verna Knigge, Robin McNamara, Verna Sagmoe, and Marlene White are all members of Beta Sigma Phi.
