DIXON – After being listed in critical condition at a Rockford hospital since a Sunday morning crash, a 90-year-old Mount Morris man was upgraded to serious condition Thursday.

Darrell Strite, 90, was southbound on state Route 2 around 9:30 a.m. when he tried to turn onto Sink Hollow Road. His car was hit on the passenger side by a northbound car driven by Calista Gilszmer, 28, of Dixon, Lee County Sheriff John Varga said.

Both were taken to KSB Hospital, but Strite was flown to OSF St. Anthony Hospital in Rockford. Gilszmer was treated and released.
