DIXON – Robert “Bob” Evans, 79, of Dixon, died Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at his home. He worked for 40 years at Flex-O-Glass in Dixon, retiring in 1998, as a foreman.

Bob was born Dec. 17, 1934, in Lenore, West Virginia, the son of Franklin and Laura (Baisden) Evans. He married Ruth Anderson on Oct. 28, 1961, in Oak Park.  

Survivors include his wife; one son, Bob (Shawney) Evans; four daughters, Donna (Don Harris) Henson, Tracy (John) Miller, and April (John) Strong, all of Dixon, and June (Erik) Ronneberg of Austin, Texas; three brothers, Dean (Donna) Evans of Maui, Hawaii, Richard Evans of Michigan, and Ron Evans of Chicago; one sister, Christine VanHoose of West Virginia; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson; two brothers, James and Ray Evans; and one sister, Jean Garreau.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday and the funeral at noon Friday at Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon, with the Rev. John Kalebaugh, pastor of Refuge Church in Amboy, officiating. Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon.

A memorial has been established.
