Rock Falls High School Board to vote on swimming agreement

Published: Tuesday, July 15, 2014 1:15 a.m. CST

ROCK FALLS – The Rock Falls High School Board is set to approve a cooperative swim team agreement between Rock Falls and Sterling high schools at its meeting Wednesday.

The agreement will be for both boys and girls swimming. If approved, it will begin in the fall and run through the 2015-16 school year. It could be renewed at the end of the period, if both schools agree.

“It will really be good for us,” Sterling girls swimming coach Jamie Rodriguez recently said. “We know at least one girl is a pretty fast sprint freestyler from Rock Falls, Michaela Busch, but we’re not really sure who else we’re going to get.”

Rock Falls Mayor Bill Wescott also will be at the meeting.

“He will bring everyone up to speed about what is going on in the community,” Rock Falls High School Superintendent Ron McCord said.

To attend

The Rock Falls High School Board will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Room 137 at the school, 101 12th Ave.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
