Marilyn J. Butler

FRANKLIN GROVE – Marilyn J. Butler, 89, of Franklin Grove, died Saturday, July 12, 2014, at her home.  

Marilyn was born Feb. 9, 1925, in Rockford, the daughter of Richard and Wanda (Poorman) Knott. She married Donald F. Butler Sr. on Aug. 30, 1963, in Oregon. He died in 2002.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Franklin Grove, and the Franklin Grove Women’s Club. An avid golfer, she was a founding member of Oregon Golf Club.

Marilyn and Donald owned and operated Frank N. Butler Co. quarries.

Survivors include her grandson, Kevin (Kelly) Jones and their daughter, Abigail, of Amboy; stepchildren, Don (Pat) Butler Jr. of Amboy and Mary Louise Bennett of Franklin Grove; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and cousin, Melinda Pellino, of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin.

She also was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Robert Jones; stepdaughter, Judith Erickson; and stepson-in-law, Dale Bennett.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Farrell-Holland Gale Funeral Home, 110 S. Seventh St., Oregon. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Myron Bartell officiating. Burial will be in Franklin Grove Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established for Serenity Hospice and Home in Oregon.
