Thanks to all for success of Poppy Day

Published: Saturday, July 19, 2014 1:15 a.m. CST

Thank you for another successful Poppy Day for the Rock Falls American Legion and Auxiliary. Thanks to you, the public, for your support of one of the oldest programs of the American Legion.

The Legion would like to thank all the businesses that allowed us to use facilities for our poppy distribution. We are sure the disabled, hospitalized veterans do extend their thanks and gratitude for remembering them at this time and in this way.

We also want to thank the 12 Post 902 Legionnaires and seven Unit 902 Auxiliary members for their time and commitment to this important program, and a thank you to everyone who helped in any way to make this a successful project.

Note to readers: Roger Jacobs and Iona Dennis are the Poppy Day project leaders from Post 902 and Unit 902.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
