Thank you for 50th festival parade success
This year our 50th Petunia Festival parade was our best ever and had the highest attendance we have ever seen. Our committee tries to make the parade as awesome as we can, and we would like to thank the parade participants who went above and beyond this year.
A couple that were first timers, such as Bill and Dick’s and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, really aimed high and made beautiful floats. Others dazzled us with magic and petunias, while another group pulled a dump truck along our route. We also would like to thank the 98 parade groups that were in our parade to make it the best we have ever seen.
We would like to thank our three judges, Roberta Vanderlin, Jeanne Kuhn, and Nancy Grygiel, for giving up a Sunday to help judge the participants, and Kathy Cecchetti for being our announcer this year.
The parade is a complicated thing to organize and pull off without any problems, and we would like to recognize some young men from the Dixon High School football team who helped for 8 hours Sunday. These young men were great, and we appreciate all of your help, Alex Helander, Jared Harrison, Jake Johnson, Jacob Harrison, Andy Wolber, Satwant Chima, and JD Gieson.
Another huge thank you to our committee. Without you all, this parade would not have happened: Sharri Miller, Kim Hvarre, Tina Adcock, Jeff and Deanne White, Bethany Wright, Tameka Freeman, and Janet Sarver.
One of our favorite parts of the parade is to see all of the people waiting on a Sunday afternoon.
So thank you to all of you. This year was the most packed we have ever seen.
See you all next year for what we hope is an amazing parade. Thank you all again.
Note to readers: Jennifer Bubrick was co-chairwoman of the parade, along with Rob Bates, and also a member of the Petunia Festival board.
