ROCK FALLS – Adam “Ruben” Lerma, 65, of Rock Falls, went to heaven Sunday, July 6, 2014. He passed away at home.
He was born Feb. 13, 1949, in San Benito, Texas, to Eleuterio Lerma and Magdelena (Puentes) Lerma. He graduated from Sterling High School.
Ruben worked as a physical therapist in the Navy. He was a very patriotic man who loved his country. He received an honorable discharge for a service-related injury, which left him disabled.
Ruben is survived by a brother, Arnulfo (Role) Lerma; eight nieces and nephews, Kimberly Lerma Weir, Ricardo Lerma, Tammy Lerma, Katrina Lerma, Alexander Cantu, Roberto Cantu, Ruben Cantu, and Reynaldo Cantu; a special mention to his great-nieces, Sabrina Lerma, Okita Lerma, and Sethina Lerma, whom he referred to as his little angels.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one beloved sister, Alma (Lerma) Lilly.
Ruben was an animal lover, and was especially fond of felines. He always had a smile on his face, and greeted his little angels with “Good morning, honey!”
He was loved, and will be missed very much. Ruben didn’t want anyone sad at his passing, but rather to celebrate his life, and toast to him – Salud Uncle Ruben.
A memorial service will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Liberty Baptist Church, 2002 Ninth Ave., Rock Falls. Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Schilling Funeral home.
