Energy fair to return to Ogle County Fairgrounds

OREGON – The 13th annual Renewable Energy and Sustainable Lifestyle Fair will be Aug. 23 and 24 at the Ogle County Fairgrounds, 1440 N. Limekiln Road.

The Illinois Renewable Energy Association will host the fair from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 23 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 24. Admission is $5 a day or $7 for both days for adults, $3 a day or $5 for youth, and free to children accompanied by an adult.

Among the exhibits will be solar, wind, biomass, and geothermal energy, home and yard care products, organic produce, and native plants.

Some of the workshop topics are local foods; preparing, producing and preserving one’s own food; raising small animals; communities building more sustainable systems; energy use and efficiency in Third World countries; growth and resource consumption; natural health management; and adapting to change.

Educational children’s activities also are planned.
