Agrees that the truth is in God’s word

Published: Saturday, July 12, 2014 1:15 a.m. CST

In response to Jordan Bowman’s two letters [June 18 and July 2], I had already written my response and was ready to send it in until this last letter came out. Those three citizens believe that the truth is God’s word. I must agree.

They are warning you about the “two ways” – the broad way that leads to destruction, and the narrow way that leads to life eternal (Matthew 7:13,14). God our creator gave us free will to make our own choices.

I am telling you with love and gentleness that God’s will is the best. God’s laws are perfect. They protect us, make us wise, give us joy and light. God’s laws are pure, eternal, just (Psalm 19:7-9).

I ask you, please, to take time today to pick up his holy word and read, pray, and meditate over it. Pray Jesus to come into your life. He is standing by. He loved us so much that he took our place on the cross. We have been bought with a price. Now that’s an amazing love and sacrifice.

You will find that you have been set free. God never worries, and he will take care of everything. We all fall short of the glory of God, but thanks be to God he did save us. Now it’s your choice what you believe.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
