The Alzheimer’s Association, Central Illinois Chapter – Rock River Branch of Dixon offers programs this summer and fall.

Scheduled are:

The Basics: Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer’s, 6 to 8 p.m. July 28, Rock River Branch office, 93 S. Hennepin Ave.: The program will cover symptoms, causes, risk factors, benefits of early detection, stages, treatment options, and ways the association can help.

ALZ 101, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 7, Mount Morris Public Library, 105 S. McKendrie Ave.: The group will explore common causes of memory loss, including Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias, the stages and symptoms of Alzheimer’s, the importance of a medical examination, current research, and treatments.

Facing New Challenges, 3 to 5 p.m. Aug. 12, Sterling Public Library, 102 W. Third St.; and 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 21, Rock River Branch office: Participants will learn the basics of Alzheimer’s disease, new communication approaches, and how to plan for the future.

Savvy Caregiver Sessions, 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 20 and 27 and Sept. 3, 10, 17, and 22, Rock River Branch office.

There is a $5 material cost for each class, except for Savvy Caregiver, which is free. Reservations are required; call 800-272-3900.
