Vernus L. 'Vern' Johnson

TUCSON, Ariz. – Vernus L. “Vern” Johnson, 83, of Tucson and Sterling, died Saturday, May 3, 2014, in Tucson. He was employed by Northwestern Steel and Wire Co. for 41 years.

Vern was born Nov. 8, 1931, in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, the son of Aldro and Nellie (Anderson) Johnson. He served in the Air Force. He married Eilene Stouffer on Oct. 28, 1950, in Polo.

Survivors include his wife of Sterling; his sons, Brian (Kathy) Johnson, Clark (Lynn) Johnson, and Steven (Sue) Johnson; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Gerald and Robert; and a great-granddaughter.

A celebration of life service will be at 1:30 p.m. July 19 at St. John Lutheran Church in Sterling. Interment will be private. Abbey Funeral Chapel in Tucson is handling arrangements.
