Eureka set to open first new classrooms since 1916

EUREKA (AP) — In late August Eureka College will open a new classroom building.

While that may be big news on any campus it's particularly big at Eureka. The small private school best known as President Ronald Reagan's alma mater hasn't opened a new classroom building since 1916.

Marc Pasteris is the school's vice president of finance and facilities. He told The Pantagraph (http://bit.ly/1qE2YrG ) that the combination of a $3 million donation from retired Eureka government professor Richard Sanders, money from other donors and a state grant allowed the school to pay for the $6.7 million building without any long-term debt.

The 17,000 square-foot Sanders Hall will have four classrooms. It will also have a seminar room and faculty offices.

Classes will begin in Sanders Hall on Aug. 27
