Tampico man arrested for counterfeit $50 bills
Man tried using them at Petunia Festival carnival
DIXON – Dixon police arrested a Tampico man for trying to use counterfeit money at Petunia Festival.
David W. Crow, 28, of Tampico, was arrested at 1:50 p.m. Sunday after North American Midway Entertainment staff contacted the police department about a counterfeit $50 bill being used at the carnival area at Dixon High School, according to a department news release.
Crow was arrested and charged with three counts of forgery, which is a felony.
Officers found three counterfeit $50 bills in Crow’s possession. He was trying to use to a counterfeit bill to pay for a game at the carnival, Sgt. Matt Richards said, adding that Crow wasn’t able to use any counterfeit bills.
Crow did not make the counterfeit bills himself, Richards said.
Crow was processed at the Dixon Police Department before being taken to Lee County Jail to have bond set.
