POLO – Jack Edward Dollmeyer, 56, of Polo, died Saturday, July 5, 2014, at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison after a long, courageous battle with melanoma.

A son of Richard and Joyce (Schultz) Dollmeyer, Jack graduated from Forreston High in 1976 and Western Iowa Tech in 1978. A lifelong farmer, Jack married Kristine Wiederholtz on June 21, 1991.

Jack was an avid Polo Marcos fan. The highlight of his life was watching his sons play basketball and other sports. He spent many happy hours out in the pasture tending his cattle and watching them graze. He was a co-founder of the Polo farmers book club and enjoyed safety meetings at the Polo Cooperative Association.

Survivors include his wife, Kris; two sons, Jake and AJ; brothers, John (Karen) and Tom (Celia); mother-in-law, Sandra Wiederholtz; brothers-in-law, Rory (Traci) and Erik (Jenni); nieces, McKayla and Tove; nephews, Kuper and Wyatt; other relatives and many loving friends.

He was preceded in death by parents, Richard and Joyce, and father-in-law, Fred Wiederholtz.

Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Polo High School. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Faith United Methodist Church in Polo, with burial following at Fairmount Cemetery in Polo.

Polo Family Funeral Home is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established at a later date.
