AMBOY – Dwight O. “Butch” Hintz Jr., 69, of Amboy, died Thursday, July 3, 2014, at Green Acres Living and Rehabilitation Center in Amboy.  

He was born Jan. 15, 1945, in Amboy, the son of Dwight and Alice (Lafferty) Hintz. Butch married Terry Engle on July 9, 1966, in Ft. Mead, Maryland. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War.

He had worked for Dale Barlow Construction in Amboy and Lilja Tiling Service prior to his retirement in 2007.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Joseph (Teresa) Hintz of Amboy, Joshua (Cassandra) Hintz of Dixon, and Jacob (Amanda) Hintz of Amboy;  four grandchildren; a sister, Sue (Fred) Schaefer of Mendota; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lynn Frye.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Frank Brozenec officiating. Burial with military honors by the Amboy American Legion will follow at Prairie Repose Cemetery in Amboy.

A memorial has been established.
