MILLEDGEVILLE – As previously published Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2014, Nelda Faye Lenhart, passed away Feb. 21, 2014, in Sterling, at the age of 91. Cremation rites were accorded as per her desires and wishes on Feb. 25, 2014, at Northern Illinois Crematory in Rock Falls. Arrangements were made through McDonald Funeral Home in Milledgeville.
Nelda’s greatest achievement in her life was being a farm wife, working hard all of her life, and the mother of three children. Having been given the gift of grandchildren was one of her many joys in life. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Sloan of Dixon; her brothers, Johnny and Donald Sloan, also of Dixon; and had to endure the sudden and criminal death of her eldest grandchild and granddaughter, Kelly Ann Lenhart of Port Hueneme, California, on Aug. 9, 2010.
She will be missed immensely and is survived by her daughter, Betty Faye Lenhart of Phoenix; and sons, Terry (Viola) Robert Lenhart of Milledgeville, and Gary (Steven Syftestad) Edwin Lenhart of Citrus Heights, California.
She was a champion and advocate for her special grandson, Johnathan Robert Lenhart of Milledgeville, who will, and does, miss her everyday of his life, and had her in his life every day for 30 years.
Those of the extended family who require mention are her grandchildren, Kip Andrew Lenhart of Pine Cove, California, Mindy (Daniel Cushman) Jo Lenhart of Palm Desert, California, Josh (Durinda Turner) Woodrow Lenhart of Idyllwild, California, and Johnathan Robert Lenhart of Milledgeville, specially mentioned above; stepgrandchildren are Matthew David Smith of Bolivar, Missouri, Whitney Ryan Syftestad-Wilson, Colin Edward Syftestad, and Taylor Rhea Syftestad-Carmen, all of Lincoln, California; and a great-granddaughter, Maggie Suzanne Lenhart of Carmichael, California; additional great-grandchildren are Chase Riley Wilson, Gannen James Syftestad, and Gavin Joseph Baird of Lincoln, California; Cayden Edward Syftestad, Carter David Gray and Callie Maureen Gray, all of Bay City, Oregon, and Mikayala Grace Smith, Dustin Ray Samuel Smith, and Stoney Haze Gene Smith of Bolivar, Missouri.
Per Nelda’s wishes, at 10 a.m. Thursday, there will be a private burial at Oak Knoll Memorial Park on Pennington Road in Sterling, where she will join her husband, Robert Lenhart, for her final resting place. At noon, there is a planned celebration of her life by her children at the Sterling Moose Family Center, 2601 E. Lincolnway, Sterling. All extended family, relatives, and friends are warmly asked to attend and bring your memories to share of our mother.
