QUINCY (AP) – A company that employs more than 150 people in western Illinois will close its Quincy factory next year.

Quincy Compressor officials told workers Tuesday that they will close the location in July 2015, The Quincy Herald-Whig reported.

State and local officials had said they wanted to develop an incentive package to persuade the company to remain open. But Quincy Compressor President John Thompson said “combined union and civic incentives fell short.”

The company will create an undetermined number of positions at its facility in Bay Minette, Alabama. It employs about 550 people nationwide.
