Marine needs help from U.S. government

Published: Saturday, July 5, 2014 1:15 a.m. CDT

When I opened my computer this morning, the first thing that caught my eye was a plea from Jill Tahmooressi, mother of Sgt. Tahmooressi. She is pleading for financial help. The money is to help pay legal expenses that are being incurred trying to get her son released from a Mexican prison.

For those who aren’t aware of who Sgt. Tahmooressi is, he is the Marine who mistakenly took a wrong turn and ended up in Mexico. Sgt. Tahmooressi had two or three legally registered (in this country) guns in his car.

He, upon realizing his mistake, immediately informed the Mexican authorities. However, he wasn’t allowed to turn back and instead landed in a Mexican prison.

I have two concerns: the plea for financial help, which could be an unscrupulous attempt by an illegitimate source to capitalize on this unfortunate situation, and “where in the heck is our government?” John Kerry, our illustrious secretary of state, according to this plea for help, has stated “the issue has been raised.”

I’d tell the Mexican government that unless Sgt. Tahmooressi is released immediately, that this government would round up every person who entered this country illegally from their country, walking around free as a bird, and send them back to Mexico.

And, if that didn’t work, the Mexican government had better prepare for the full force of the American military knocking on their door.
