FRANKLIN GROVE – Brian M. Oswalt, 60, of Franklin Grove, passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, to meet Jesus on Saturday June 28, 2014, at Franklin Grove Nursing Center. Brian endured 2 years with cancer, but knew God was with him and would give him strength and courage.  

He was born Oct. 6, 1953, in Chicago, the son of George and Alice (Kendzierski) Oswalt. He married Sandra Rowland on April 15, 1989, in Polo. He worked at George’s TV and then at Exelon Byron Nuclear Station for more than 23 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and hunting.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra; stepdaughter, Jennifer (Shad) Hewitt of Franklin Grove; one granddaughter, Emalie Hewitt; four brothers, Gary (Lana) Oswalt of Midlothian, Texas,, Kevin (Sue) Oswalt and Timothy (Mary Beth) Oswalt, both of Dixon, and the Rev. Michael Oswalt of Olathe, Colorado; one sister, Susan Humphrey of Amboy; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Patrick Michael Oswalt.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Jones Funeral Home in Dixon. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Roger Carlson and the Rev. Jason Karper co-officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded.

A memorial has been established to Hospice of the Rock River Valley.
