DIXON – Vincent Duane Rutt, 84, of Dixon, died Friday, June 27, 2014, at KSB Hospital in Dixon.

He was a self-employed real estate broker from 1975 until the time of his death.

Vincent was born October 27, 1929, in Dixon, the son of Wesley and Ruth (Erickson) Rutt. He married Janice Louise Schoeller on Dec. 31, 1964, in Rockford. She preceded him in death on Aug. 10, 2007. 

Vincent served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Dixon.

Survivors include two sons, Wesley (Melanie) Rutt of Webster, Texas, and Alan (Kay) Rutt, of Woodburn, Kentucky; one daughter, Leslea (Rick) Bates, of Metropolis; one step-son, Gary Hollewell, of Illinois; two brothers, Gordon (Irene) Rutt of Dixon, and Truman (Elizabeth) Rutt, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, James Douglas Wesley Bates.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Dixon, followed by a 5 p.m. memorial service at the church with the Rev. Heewon Kim, associate pastor, officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded.

A memorial has been established to First United Methodist Church in Dixon.
