ROCK FALLS – Dorothy Palmer, 90, of Rock Falls, died Saturday, June 28, 2014, at her home.
She was born on June 19, 1924, in Sterling, the daughter of Norris and Alice (Fitzgerald) Aldrich. She married Albert M. Palmer on March 18, 1942, in Los Angeles. He died September 23, 2003.
Dorothy worked for as a clerk for 20 years at the former Haskell’s Office Supply in Sterling. She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church and served as a Eucharistic minister to shut-ins of the parish for several years. She was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, the Legion of Mary, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Surviving are her three daughters: Patricia (Jim) Brockman of Greenville, South Carolina, Janice (Michael) Mercer of Rockford; and Penny (Calvin) Nutt of Sterling; three sons: Jim Palmer and Mike (Kelly) Palmer both of Vero Beach, Florida, and Bob (Shawn) Palmer of Thomas, Oklahoma; 22 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her daughter Susan George; her son Larry Palmer; two brothers; and one sister.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Ave. in Rock Falls, with the rosary being recited at 4 p.m. Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Rock Falls, with the Rev. James R. Keenan, celebrant, officiating. Burial will conclude at Calvary Cemetery.
