Harold D. Olds

ROCK FALLS – Harold Dean Olds, 82, of Rock Falls, died Friday, June 27, 2014, at his home.

Harold D. Olds was born Dec. 30, 1931, in New Bedford, the son of Homer Merrel and Gladys Evelu (Sanders) Olds. He was a Korean War veteran, having served in the Army from June 10, 1952, to May 8, 1954. He married Flora Irene Swords on Feb. 14, 1958, in Sterling. Harold was employed at the former RB&W Manufacturing in Rock Falls for 38 years, retiring as a tool maker. He was an avid woodcarver.

Surviving are his wife, Irene; his sister, Marilyn Genz of Rock Falls; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jim Olds; and one sister, Lola Weigner.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday and the funeral at 10:30 a.m. Monday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls, with Neil W. Shoffner, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Coloma Township Cemetery in Rock Falls.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to Unity Hospice.
