Injured resident upgraded to fair condition

STERLING – A 56-year-old Sterling man seriously injured in a home invasion Tuesday was upgraded to fair condition Thursday at a Rockford hospital.

No arrests have been made in the incident, which happened around noon in the 1300 block of Griswold Avenue.

The man, whose name has not been released, was taken to CGH Medical Center then flown to OSF Saint Anthony Hospital.

Police have declined to provide any detail on his injuries, including how they were inflicted, although they did say it appears no weapons were involved.

This home invasion follows another one that happened in the 300 block of Seventh Avenue on Sunday morning, in which a man and a teenage boy were treated at CGH Medical Center for minor injuries and released. The two incidents appear to be unrelated, police said.

Anyone with information on incident can contact Sterling Police at tipline@sterling-il.gov or 815-632-6640, or Whiteside County Crime Stoppers, 815-625-7867.
