OTTAWA (AP) – The body of a suburban Chicago man who was swept away in the swift current of the Illinois River over the weekend has been recovered.

Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation officers Tuesday recovered the body of 35-year-old Alberto Rodriguez Jr. of Naperville from the river at Ottawa. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say Rodriguez on Saturday entered the water from an anchored boat to cool off. Conservation police say Rodriguez was then swept downriver by the river’s current.

Ottawa River Rescue and the Marseilles, Seneca and Reading fire departments conducted the search for the victim.

The La Salle County coroner’s office has scheduled an autopsy for Wednesday.
