DIXON – “Brush, Bloom and Boom,” the annual family-friendly art event, is set for noon to 5 p.m. July 4 on the Peoria Avenue Bridge in downtown Dixon.

Dixon Main Street and the Dixon Petunia Festival are teaming up for the all-ages painting competition, presented by ValuChic.

The event will use the Peoria Avenue Bridge as its canvas, as artists help decorate the downtown for the festival, which runs Wednesday through July 6.

Artists will paint 4-foot-by-4-foot squares on the bridge. Registration before the event is $10 per square. Participants can register by downloading a form at www.dixonmainstreet.com or stopping by the DMS office, 115 S. Hennepin Ave.

Day-of registration will begin at 11 a.m. and is $15. Painters should check in at the corner of Peoria Avenue and River Street on the south side of the bridge.

Paint and brushes will be supplied for the participants. Winners will be announced at the event, and prizes will be awarded.
