STERLING – A Sterling man injured during a home invasion Tuesday was in critical condition Wednesday at a Rockford hospital.

No arrests have been made in the incident, which happened just after noon in the 1300 block of Griswold Avenue.

Police found the occupant, whose name is not being released, seriously injured. He was taken to CGH Medical Center then flown to OSF Saint Anthony Hospital, they said in a news release.

It’s not clear whether any weapons were involved, police said.

Tuesday’s home invasion appears to be unrelated to one that happened in the 300 block of Seventh Avenue Sunday morning, the release said.

In that incident, a group of people knocked on the door, and when it was opened, members of the group forced their way inside, and a fight ensued. Two people inside the home were taken to CGH Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

Anyone with information about either incident is asked to contact Sterling Police at or 815-632-6640, or Whiteside County Crime Stoppers, 815-625-7867.
