Will be held each Wednesday at riverfront

DIXON – In July, Dixon Main Street will launch the Dixon City Market.

The market will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. every Wednesday from July 9 through Sept. 24 at the riverfront, and include at least 10 vendors.

There will be produce, meat, eggs, bread, pastries, honey, jams, jellies and other items, Main Street Executive Director Josh Albrecht said in an email, in addition to live music and other activities like face-painting for children.

There will also be grilled sausage and other prepared items, he said, in addition to beer and wine tastings.

There will be no farmers market on the riverfront Friday and Saturday, because of preparation for the Dixon Petunia Festival. The farmers market will resume July 11-12, after the festival’s conclusion.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
