Golf camps offered for youth

STERLING – The Sterling Park District has two upcoming youth golf camps at Emerald Hill Golf Course, 16802 Prairieville Road.

Pee Wee Golf Camp, for ages 6-8, runs from 11 a.m. to noon July 14-18, and Junior Golf Camp, for ages 13-15, runs from 11 a.m. to noon July 28 to Aug. 1. The cost for each camp is $50 per child. The camps will cover golf fundamentals, basic rules, and swing. Registration must be done at the golf course, 815-622-6204.

Free youth tennis lessons will be offered from 8:30 to 10 a.m. July 21-24 at Thomas Park, 2301 12th Ave. These are for 7- to 14-year-old beginner to intermediate players. Advanced registration will be accepted at Westwood Fitness and Sport Center, 1900 Westwood Drive, and the Duis Recreation Center, 211 E. 23rd St., but it is not required. Some racquets will be available.

Duis will be the site of CPR and AED training for ages 15 and older from 5 to 8 p.m. July 28. Registration is $60, and participants must be registered by July 15. The program will provide individuals with the basic knowledge and skills necessary to give effective, basic life support in an emergency. They will receive a 2-year certification card from the American Safety and Health Institute upon completion of the program.

A complete schedule of all summer programs can be found in the Sterling Park District Summer Program Guide, which is available at sterlingparks.org and at all park district facilities.
