MORRISON – Phyllis A. Ottens, 73, of Morrison, died Thursday, June 19, 2014, at Morrison Community Hospital.

Phyllis was born Sept. 18, 1940, in Sterling, the daughter of Paul S. and Josephine R. (Lodge) Jaquet. She married Gene A. Ottens on Oct. 2, 1959, in Prophetstown.

She was educated at Prophetstown Grade School and graduated from Prophetstown High School in 1958. She attended classes at Sauk Valley Community College.

Phyllis had been employed as a secretary for several local companies. She was a member of Morrison Christian Reformed Church.

Surviving are her husband, Gene; a daughter, Lisa (Bruce) Zaagman of Lyndon; three sons, Allen (Karen) Ottens of Loves Park, Jeff (Colette) Ottens of Marysville, Kansas, and Greg (Nicky) Ottens of Mattoon; seven grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and a brother, Vernon (Shelly) Jacquet of Tampico.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today in the Morrison Chapel at Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Morrison Christian Reformed Church, with the Rev. James Peterson, pastor, officiating. Interment will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial funds have been established for WDLM Radio Ministry, The Pregnancy Center in Clinton, Iowa, and Hope Life Center in Sterling.
