A Fulton man died Thursday after the motorcycle he was riding hit a deer near Camanche, Iowa, on Wednesday.

Richard Beswick, 53, was riding south on U.S. Route 67 at about 9:05 p.m. Wednesday when he collided with a deer that darted out from a ditch and directly into the path of the motorcycle, according to an Iowa State Patrol accident report.

Beswick was treated by paramedics at the scene and then airlifted to Genesis Medical Center East in Davenport, Iowa, where he died Thursday. Police said he was not wearing a helmet.

Beswick was a 25-year employee of Schuler Motors in Morrison.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Morrison Chapel of Bosma-Renkes Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel.
