MACHESNEY PARK – Marilyn J. Wilson, 64, of Machesney Park, died peacefully Saturday, June 7, 2014, at home. Marilyn battled her cancer diagnosis with strength and dignity, and was surrounded by her loved ones during her final days.  

Marilyn was a professional bookkeeper for many years, most recently at American Surveying & Engineering P.C. in Dixon. In her spare time, she was a certified Jazzercise instructor, teaching classes for 21 years. In addition to her classes, Marilyn tirelessly led Jazzercise marathons, raising money for various women’s health issues.

She was born May 11, 1950, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Loretta VonBank. In 1967, she married John Willey Sr. of Fort Dodge, Iowa, producing two children, daughter, Jodi Jones of Machesney Park; and son, John Willey of New York City. She married Marc Wilson Sr. of Sterling on June 28, 1975.

In addition to her husband, Marc, Marilyn is survived by her two children; her four stepchildren, Marc Wilson Jr. of Huntsville, Arkansas, Tabitha Brooks-Wilson and Elizabeth Wilson. both of Tampa, Florida, and Michael Wilson of Madison, Wisconsin; and numerous grandchildren.

Marilyn will be greatly missed as a loving wife, mother, sister, and a generous, kindhearted coworker and friend. She will be remembered for her warmth and humor in good times and in challenging times.

A remembrance service, open to all friends and family, will be from noon to 4 p.m. June 28 at Rock River Golf and Pool, 3901 Dixon Ave., Rock Falls. Honquest Family Funeral Home with Crematory in Rockford is honored to have assisted the family.
