ROCK FALLS – Helen M. Breitweiser, 95, of Rock Falls, died Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling.

Helen was born Sept. 6, 1918, in Harmon, to August and Caroline (Schaefer) Schulte. She married Lawrence Martenson on Dec. 15, 1940, in Rock Falls. He preceded her in death in 1983. She married Keith Breitweiser on Feb. 20, 1987, in Rock Falls. He preceded her in death in 2002. Helen was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rock Falls. She enjoyed walking in the mall, and was a member of the Quilting Ladies at her church.

Survivors include two daughters, Lavon (James) Gilman of Rockford and Cindy (Bob) Sondgeroth of Rock Falls; three grandchildren, Laurie Gilman of Beloit, Wisconsin, Ben Sondgeroth of Sterling, and Jennie Sondgeroth of Rock Falls; two sisters, Bernice VonHolten of Sterling and Eva Cowley of Dixon; two brothers, August (Marilyn) Schulte Jr. of Dixon and John Schulte of Darlington, Wisconsin; four sisters-in-law, Francis Schulte of Dixon, Marie Schulte of Walnut, Dorothy VonHolten of Springfield, and Marilyn Genz of Rock Falls; and many nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by one son, Paul; two sisters, Hanna Hopkins and Alice Pierce; and two brothers, Elmer Schulte and Albert Schulte.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at McDonald Funeral Home in Rock Falls. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Rock Falls, with the Rev. Henrietta Milner officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
