ROCK FALLS – A benefit for the family of the late Karla (Slater) Cathey McFadden will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at Long Shot Bar & Grill, 3312 W. U.S. Route 30.

McFadden, a 1982 Sterling High School grad and a beautician, was 50 when she died March 26 of a brain aneurysm, leaving her sons, Matthew Slater, 12, and Sgt. Daniel VanAusdoll, her husband, Bryan McFadden, and three grandchildren.

The benefit will feature live music by local bands Second Wind, the Kill Bill E’s, Old Dog New Chick and Poison Apple, as well as live and silent auctions that include, among many things, a Weber grill and grilling kit, a hammock, Angus beef, a 46-inch smart TV, and Blu-Ray player. There will also be a 50/50 raffle, a card drawing, and a taco bar from 1 to 4 p.m.

Donations also may be made to the Karla Cathey McFadden benefit fund at Sauk Valley Bank.

Call her sister, Lisa Buckingham, 815-499-3304, for more information.
